Griffith Park Section

The Griffith Park Section seeks to preserve and protect the natural ecology of Griffith Park, helping to assure its continuance as an open area always accessible to the public. The Section leads weekday evening hikes to increase awareness by the public of the beauty and needs of Griffith Park. The Section also schedules regular cleanup events and other volunteer activities as a public service.

Membership: Open to any individual or couple of the Sierra Club who subscribes to our quarterly newsletter. Your subscriptions will help us continue to be able to hold hikes which are free and open to the public. Send a legal-sized SASE to the Section Treasurer for a free copy so you can see what we do. (Subscription form by mail if you don't want to use PayPal).

Next Full Moon hike will be Friday April 26 at 7pm. Next Wednesday Group Cookout: May 1st. Full Moon hikes on the Friday nearest the full moon each month (see GPS Calendar for details) or check for announcements at the weekly hikes. The 2013 dates are as follows: April 26, May 24, June 21, July 19, August 16, September 20, October 18, November 15, December 13. Zoo Drive between the Travel Town/LA Live Steamers location and Riverside Drive will be closed from February 15 through June 2013 due to LADWP construction. The Griffith Park Section calendar is now updated to show future upcoming events. Please remember to let the webmaster know about events as soon as possible so they can be included in the calendar. Wednesday Group has an after-hike cookout on the 1st Wednesday of each month (see GPS Calendar)
