Desert Peaks Section, Angeles Chapter, Sierra Club
The Desert Peaks Section encourages members to explore and enjoy the desert mountain ranges of California and the southwest; to become familiar with their scenic resources; and to stimulate interest in climbing these vast desert ranges in the interest of preserving their desert resources and to enlist public interest and cooperation in protecting them.
There are 99 desert mountains, throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Mexico on the climbing list of the Desert Peaks Section.
While all are welcome to come with us on our climbs in the desert, those who would like to become members of the Desert Peaks Section need to climb 6 peaks on the qualifying desert peaks list, be a Sierra Club member, and subscribe to the Desert Sage.
Emblem status requires membership for one year, climbing 5 of seven emblem peaks and an additional ten peaks.
