Contemplating Our Second 100 Years

The closer we get to the Chapter's 100th birthday, the more I find myself thinking about how the chapter will spend its second hundred years?

What great conservation battles will the next century bring with it?

Will the victories of present-day Angeles stand the test of time? What great stories from the eariest 2lst century will future Chapter members use to inspire? Which will be high- lighted in retrospect when the Chapter prepares to turn 200?

What will the Chapter be known for on its 200th birthday? What will that birthday party be like? What will I wear?

As I waited for the results from my Google search of 'eco-friendy + Jetsons + dress,' the troubling thought that I might not around for that party popped into my brain.

Whether or not we get to see what the 200-year-old Angeles Chapter is, what's more important is we can be instrumental in its evolution.

The actions we take or don't take today shape the Chapter and the trajectory that leads from us into the future. We can support the Coastal Commission for the Banning Ranch Task Force. We can drive green cars and put our carbon footprints on a starvation diet. We can make an investment in ourselves by learning about the green technologies advancing every day. And we can invest in the green technologies and/or sustainable alternatives to support businesses that charge themselves with conserving the resources of the planet. For our sake and the sake of future generations.
