ExComm Highlights

ExComm meeting held 27 March with 29 participants, including 19 voting members and 10 ex-officio members and visitors. Chair Hersh Kelley introduced the new alternate representative from the Verdugo Hills Group, Jan Kidwell. Senior Chapter Director Ron Silverman noted that Jennifer Robinson is back in the office after giving birth to twins.

Treasurer's Report

Mark Caylor, Treasurer, reported that this year all Chapter and entity (Group, Section, et al) financial statements were submitted to National on time. Thanks to all for cooperation.

The Chapter is operating in the red financially, so please respond to fundraising appeals. Fundraising outings are providing substantial help.

Communications Report

Our Communications chair, Susan Heitman, is working on the Chapter website and is seeking content from groups and sections.

Diversity Committee/OMC

Melody Anderson reported that National is doing diversity training for Chapters, we will participate. Melody also reported that outings leaders must be aware that there are regulations pertaining to leading outings that include unaccompanied minors as participants.

Nominations Committee

George Denny, chair of the Chapter Nominations Committee, is soliciting suggestions for candidates for at-large ExComm positions for the 2011 Fall elections. George is seeking not just names but brief statements of qualifications, for consideration by the Nominations Committee.

Banquet Committee

Donna Specht reported on preparations for the May 1 Chapter Awards Banquet to be held at Brookside Country Club, always an enjoyable way to spend an evening. Reception begins at 5 PM, dinner at 6.

History Committee

Bob Cates, from the History committee, gave an update on the Chapter Centennial. There will be a Centennial Picnic July 16 at the Nature Conservancy Malibu Preserve, with a catered barbecue lunch and guests including Glen Dawson.
