'I was contacted by my union to see if I could go to Madison, Wisconsin for a labor action that would probably be a once-in-ageneration opportunity. I had just gotten sick, but I felt I could go. I joined 160 others from 39 other unions on a chartered flight to the current epicenter of the ongoing civil rights struggles of the U.S. I didn't have a very good sense of what was transpiring before going. Now, I know why. The corporate owned media supposedly liberal-biased, is barely covering this critical issue.'--Garen Yeparian

'Little did I know as I flew home from D.C., that, later in the month, tens of thousands of people would be out in the streets and in the Rotunda in Madison, Wisconsin, to protest Governor Scott Walker's attempt to take collective bargaining rights away from public employees...Just before I left for Washington, D.C., Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi introduced an amendment to strip Transportation Security Officers of the right to bargain collectively-a right they had won less than a year before. Unions bring a safer workplace, a more experienced workforce, and, in this case, better security. All workers deserve a voice at work, and unions support and protect workers who point out threats to health, safety and the environment.'--Carol Henning.
