Chair, 2008 Angeles Chapter Executive Committee

May is the month of thanksgiving - that is, this is the time we give thanks to the thousands of members who do all that they do to make the Angeles Chapter and the Sierra Club function effectively. For example, on May 4th is the Annual Chapter Awards Banquet, in which we acknowledge the superlative efforts of many of our leaders.

Why do we do this? Because it is the right thing to do. The Sierra Club, The Angeles Chapter; our 16 Regional Groups; our 35 Outings sections and committees; and our 10 Conservation committees and 20 task forces would accomplish nothing without the dedicated members who put in their time day after day to make the earth a better place for all of us.

Without the 800+ outings leaders helping our members to explore and enjoy the wild places of this earth, many thousands of people would miss out on the beauty of nature, and would not understand as clearly why we need to protect it.

Therefore, a heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to each an every member who contributes in his or her own way to accomplishing the myriad of task and activities which collectively make the Sierra Club what it is.
