SEP 3-6 FRI-MON LABOR DAY WEEKEND * 20s & 30s
O: ADVENTURE SERIES: YOSEMITE CAR CAMP

Join us on our adventure- a Car camp to Yosemite National Park, Labor
Day weekend (Friday-Monday September 3-6th, 2004). Half Dome, Nevada
Falls, Clouds Rest, Quarter Dome, El Capitan, the Redwoods all within
reach. Hike, swim, bike, read, meditate, laze, you decide. The weekend
will be fun and relaxing, with stimulating day hikes through scenery
that inspired John Muir, Ansel Adams and countless generations of
visitors! Evening activities include campfires, roasted marshmallows and
Yosemite under starlight skies, need we say more?
Drive up Friday, camp in a Yosemite valley campground Fri-Sat-Sun nights
and head back on Monday. The campground has flush toilets and hot
showers are available within walking distance for a fee. Most meals for
Saturday and Sunday are included as is breakfast on Monday.
Additionally, there are restaurants nearby.
Note that you will need to bring and share tents, as we are limited in
the number of tents that we can pitch at each campsite. In addition,
severe bear restrictions are in place in Yosemite; our group will have
access to a limited number of bear resistant storage boxes, thus there
will be strict restrictions on items that you can bring up, such as
ice-chests/food/toiletteries/anything that has a smell, all those items
as well as the group's food will have to fit in those boxes... More
information at http://www.nps.gov/yose/home.htm and when you sign up.
All participants will be required to share in camping and food tasks.
We expect this event to sell out rather quickly. To inquire about space
availability or for any general questions, send e-mail to Leaders

And consider our Sailing Program; it's one of the many opportunities in this section that makes 20s & 30s so unique and diverse.

Be Prepared
Have you ever wanted to go on a Sierra Club outing, but didn't know what to bring, where to train, or how to condition yourself for the wilderness? Then check out our Trip Planner.

Know the Rules
Not sure what's acceptable on our hikes? Read up on the club's Policies, to avoid embarrassing incidents involving hunting small animals during a hike.

Give a Hoot
Do your interests in the wilderness go beyond exploring? Does your passion drive you to be a part of the growing movement to preserve our planet? Then hike over to our section's Conservation page; there you will find a summary of efforts currently being made to protect our environment and some opportunities for you to get involved.

Look Who's Leading Now
Curious who's in charge? Then look into the people in front of and behind the things that we do on the Leadership page. Do you wish to become a leader yourself? Then let that page guide you in the right direction.

Keep in Touch
Do you need help from our club or section? Then go to the Contacts page; there you will find the contact information for the club and its leaders. If it involves conservation, events, leadership, membership, the newsletter, or this Web site, that page can direct you to the right person.

Newcomers' Hikes/Beginners' Hikes
On Monday, February 24th, 2003, a local tv news station did a story on our section. They filmed our previous Newcomer's Hike. Our Newcomer's Hikes are our most popular events. We average anywhere from 60-130 people! They usually are socially-paced hikes. If it is at WLA. The address is 11000 Wilshire Blvd., Westwood. Cross St. Veteran. It's across the street from a cemetery. We meet in the visitor's parking lot
